The NFL Super Bowl can be described as the apex of American football. For most players, reaching, and winning, the Super Bowl is their goal. This event attracts millions of viewers across the USA and the world, with the Super Bowl Halftime Show being a major draw as well.

Not only is this an exciting time for sports fans, but American football betting experts are also keen to place massive bets on this event. Here we’ll be taking a look at the 2022 Super Bowl along with potential lineups, NFL odds and more.

The road to the Super Bowl

The 2022 Super Bowl will see the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Los Angeles Rams. This is an unlikely matchup as the Rams upset the 49ers with a final score of 20-17. The Bengals beat the Chiefs 27-24 to land a spot in the finals. There were a few elements that made the NFC (National Football Conference) very interesting.

Teams such as the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were favorites to make it to the finals, whereas the San Francisco 49ers were a chaotic force in an unpredictable playoff series.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers took a monumental beating in the NFL Preseason as the New Orleans Saints demolished them 38-3. However, this sparked an impressive run of form with the Packers going on a seven-game winning streak before succumbing to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers were Super Bowl favorites in 2022; however, the 10-13 loss to the 49ers ended their campaign.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers were almost unstoppable since the Preseason, losing only a handful of games that were tightly contested. The blueprint for the season was to acquire aging players in an attempt to establish a squad consisting of experienced players and young talent. This seemed to be the winning formula until losing to the Rams in the NFL Divisional Round.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers had a campaign of mixed results, but there’s no denying that they were one of the most exciting teams to watch. The 49ers weren’t expected to make it this far, especially since they are in the middle of rebuilding the team. The squad went on to play exceptional football with a strong defense and a dangerous, yet volatile, offense.

The Super Bowl matchup between the Bengals and the Rams didn’t follow the script at all. Both teams were the No. 4 seed in their respective conferences. The Super Bowl will be taking place in the SoFi Stadium, with the Rams being the favorites to win with Super Bowl odds of -200. The Bengals are going in as the underdogs with odds of +168.

Both teams have pulled off great comebacks after being in high point deficits. The Bengals were down 21-3, but managed to beat the Chiefs 27-24 in the AFC Championship game. It was a similar story for the Rams as they were down 17-7, only to bounce back and beat the 49ers 20-17 in the NFC Championship game.

This showdown will be the second time in history that two No.1 NFL-drafted quarterbacks will play against one another. Joe Burrow was drafted in 2020 and Matthew Stafford in 2009. This will be the third Super Bowl appearance for the Bengals since 1988, which is one of the reasons the Super Bowl betting odds are against them.

Burrow is part of a young squad that includes exciting players such as Joe Mixon, Ja’Marr Chase and Trey Hendrickson. Zac Taylor, third-year coach of the Bengals, has an opportunity to lead the team to win its first Super Bowl.

On the other side of the pond, the LA Rams are heading toward their second Super Bowl under fifth-year coach Sean McVay. Everything started falling into place after Jared Goff was traded to the Detroit Lions for Stafford. Other important pickups include Odell Beckham Jr. and Von Miller, both of whom have become massive contributors to the team.

Defensive tackle Aaron Donald and wide receiver Cooper Kupp are also at the top of the roster. The story will conclude on Sunday, February 13, as the Rams are looking to add a second Super Bowl title to their name and the Bengals are attempting to complete their tremendous run.

Bengals’ offense vs. Rams’ defense

On paper, the Bengals have an advantage against the Rams’ defense. The star of the Bengals’ offense is Burrow; he does an excellent job of buying time and extending plays with his quick feet. The Bengals have proven that they can pivot quite well and they can be a strong power running team with players such as Mixon.

However, the main concern when going up against the Rams’ defense is Aaron Donald disrupting the inside game plan. Donald is also assisted by nose tackle Greg Gaines and rusher Von Miller. The key to success is for Burrow to quickly get the ball out of his hands. Burrow has also proven to be difficult to bury as he’s tough in the pocket and throws very well when he’s on the move.

The star of the show is going to be wide receiver Kupp, and if you’re going to place Super Bowl bets, there’s a good chance that he will be causing all kinds of problems for the Bengals’ defense. The Bengals will be focused on playing a more containing style with Kupp and Beckham Jr., as the blitzes will need to be stopped to prevent them from gaining more ground.

The Rams can also run the ball with anyone in the backfield as the offensive line has been looking great in run blocking compared to their previous pass protection. McVay and Stafford will likely find the right plays and they could take advantage of the containment style of play that would be implemented by the Bengals.
